Christa Cuthbert
Christa’s skills and experience include advising on real estate, corporate and finance transactions.
Christa was previously a senior associate at Carey Olsen and her experience there included:
- advising the Jersey Development Company on its development of the Jersey International Finance Centre, including on structuring, funding, planning, letting and construction matters, and negotiations with the client’s main shareholder, the government of Jersey;
- acting for lending institutions and peer-to-peer lenders on the granting of loans and taking of security over immovable property and security interests over intangible movable property and release of the same;
- advising the National Trust for Jersey on its high-profile purchase of the site of the former Pontins holiday camp, Jersey, funded in part by a loan from the government of Jersey and by donations;
- advising the Jersey Development Company on the management of its property portfolio in Jersey, including residential development sites, already constructed multi-use developments, structuring of its interests and other corporate matters;
- acting on all aspects of the sale and purchase of Jersey property owning companies and the property aspects of various corporate-led sale and purchases.
Originally from Jersey, Christa graduated with an honours degree in Land Economy from Magdalene College, Cambridge University in 2001. She completed the transition to law at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice and qualified as an English solicitor in 2006 at Linklaters LLP, London, spending part of her training in Budapest. After a couple more years at Linklaters, she joined Channel Island firm, Carey Olsen, where she specialised in all aspects of commercial property law with a particular emphasis on complex multi-use developments. She qualified as a Jersey Advocate in 2012. She left Carey Olsen after almost 10 years to devote more time to her family and came back into the profession in 2021.
Christa is also a trustee of The Shelter Trust for the homeless in Jersey.
