Edward Scott

Edward advises on a wide range of corporate matters including establishing, buying and selling, redomiciling and winding up Jersey companies. Much of Edward’s practice involves UK real estate that is held by Jersey vehicles. He is also very experienced on finance matters, again often in the UK real estate sector. Edward has also advised a number of Jersey and international banks on finance and regulatory issues.

Edward founded Edward Scott and Co in September 2020. Before that he was a partner at Dickinson Gleeson.

Transactions at Edward Scott and Co include:

  • Advising Landsec on its £87m acquisition of 55 Old Broad Street, London EC2 via the purchase of units in a Jersey Property Unit Trust;
  • Acting for an internet hosting and cloud computing provider on its project to build UK data centres;
  • Acting for a JV vehicle, owned by Middle Eastern investors, on its project to buy and develop a West London office property;
  • Advising the lender on its £65m financing for a Jersey company, in order to develop a site in West London as a hotel.
  • Acting for Fifty-Eight Capital on its sale of London mixed-use building Holborn Gate to Hoi Hup Realty Pte Ltd.

 

His experience at Dickinson Gleeson included:

  • Acting for Landsec on its purchase of shopping centres, held by Jersey Property Unit Trusts, for in excess of £330m;
  • Advising London and Regional on the refinancing of its Atlas Hotel portfolio, purchased for circa £575m, with Morgan Stanley;
  • Acting for the Reuben Brothers on their £300m acquisition of Burlington Arcade in London’s Mayfair;
  • Advising the directors of a natural resources company on their duties in connection with the sale of its principal asset for US$800m.

Originally from Jersey, Edward graduated with a First Class degree from Selwyn College, Cambridge University. Edward trained at Dentons in London and qualified as an English solicitor in 2005. He worked at Linklaters before returning to Jersey, where he worked for Ogier for seven years, qualifying as a Jersey Advocate in 2013. He moved to Dickinson Gleeson in 2016 and established Edward Scott and Co in 2020.
